New Sangsaeng Pepero Made with Our Rice Released
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Lotte Confectionery announced on the 13th that it has partnered with Nonghyup to launch ‘Uri Ssal Pepero,’ made with Icheon rice.
This is the first case of Pepero’s ‘Local Agricultural Products Win-Win Project.’ Starting this year, Lotte Confectionery added a new social contribution project called the ‘Local Agricultural Products Win-Win Project’ to promote the consumption of domestic agricultural products. As a result, the social contribution projects under the Pepero brand have increased to six, including Sweet Home, Sweet School, Sweet Picnic, Nutrition Support Project, and donation campaigns.
‘Uri Ssal Pepero’ is a stick biscuit coated with rice flour and puffed rice covered in white chocolate. Since it is a larger ‘Big Pepero’ compared to regular Pepero, each Pepero stick is individually packaged. From the moment the package is opened, you can experience the sweet and nutty flavor unique to rice, offering a new taste of Pepero that has never existed before. This product is sold exclusively at Nonghyup stores nationwide, with a recommended retail price of 6,000 KRW.
The product developer stated, “The newly introduced ‘Local Agricultural Products Win-Win Project’ was named ‘Win-Win’ with the intention of actively utilizing various domestic agricultural products to promote consumption and to stimulate customer curiosity by presenting a unique flavor of Pepero.” They added, “‘Uri Ssal Pepero’ is a limited edition for Pepero Day, and if it becomes popular, additional releases are planned.”

Meanwhile, Lotte Confectionery has been continuously supporting the ‘Sweet Home’ project, a regional children’s center construction project, for eight years using Pepero’s profits, and donates Pepero to various social welfare organizations through the ‘Pepero Sharing Campaign.’ This year, they added the children’s play space construction projects ‘Sweet School’ and the ‘Local Agricultural Products Win-Win Project,’ and plan to expand their social contribution activities more broadly in the future.
