View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Korea Energy Agency and the Korea Gas Safety Corporation signed a 'Excavation Work Information Sharing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)' on the 12th at Novotel Ambassador Suwon to prevent underground buried facility damage accidents.
About 10 officials, including Cha Jaeho, Regional Cooperation Director of the Energy Agency, and Heo Youngtaek, Technical Director of the Gas Safety Corporation, attended the signing ceremony.
This MOU was prepared for the Energy Agency to share excavation work information from the Excavation Work Information Support Center operated by the Korea Gas Safety Corporation.
The agreement was made to prevent damage accidents to district energy heat transport pipes buried underground due to excavation work and to ensure public safety.
The center is an institution that handles reporting, receiving, and processing operations of excavation works for other facilities to prevent damage accidents to city gas pipelines.
Through the agreement, the two organizations will mutually cooperate not only in sharing excavation work information but also in technology, education, and promotion to improve the safety of underground buried heat transport pipes and gas pipelines.
Additionally, according to the agreement, the Energy Agency will provide the shared excavation work information to district energy operators and establish a 'Excavation Information System' (tentative name) that enables monitoring of construction progress, conducting a pilot project.
