[2020 National Audit] Commissioner of National Tax Service Responds to Criticism on Google App Fee Taxation Negotiations: "We Will Do So"
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyun-jung] Kim Dae-ji, Commissioner of the National Tax Service, stated that if Google earns revenue from application fees, the taxation of that revenue will be reviewed.
At the National Assembly's Planning and Finance Committee audit held on the 12th at the National Tax Service in Government Sejong 2 Complex, Commissioner Kim responded to the Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Soo-heung's suggestion that the government should discuss taxing Google's app fee revenue by saying, "We will do so."
Regarding this, Lawmaker Kim pointed out, "If Google charges a 30% commission to Play Store app developers, the commission revenue is expected to surge," adding, "Shouldn't taxes naturally be imposed on the portion of this revenue generated in Korea?"
