[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Former Blue House Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Kang Ki-jung submitted a complaint to the prosecution on the 12th, refuting the court testimony by Kim Bong-hyun, former chairman of Star Mobility and a key figure in the 'Lime Asset Management scandal,' who claimed to have handed over 50 million won.
Former Secretary Kang, who visited the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office that morning to submit the complaint against Kim and others, said, "I feel unbearable humiliation and anger at Kim's court testimony full of falsehoods," adding, "I despair that after days of consideration, the only thing I can do is to file a complaint."
He emphasized, "Receiving 50 million won, which is not a small amount, from the Blue House is something that the public will realize is impossible upon closer thought," and stressed, "I have never received even a single won."
In the complaint, former Secretary Kang claimed that Kim's testimony "resulted in irreparable defamation," and argued, "Although the essence of this case is a major financial accident caused by his own ugly greed, there is an intention to distort it as a regime corruption issue to receive leniency in sentencing."
Regarding the absence of Lee Kang-se, CEO of Star Mobility, from the accused, Kang explained, "I could not confirm any defamatory remarks." He added, "Although I have known CEO Lee for a long time, we are not in a close relationship. We met as a journalist from a media company, a CEO, and a politician," and stated, "Since his company and Lime were being slandered and investments were not going well, I advised him, 'Get inspected by the financial supervisory authority and quickly clear it out; that's the best way.' That was the entirety of that day's meeting."
