Strict COVID-19 Infection Prevention with Social Distancing Seating and Temperature Checks
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Gyeongsangnam-do Culture and Arts Center announced on the 8th that it will present Jeongdong Theater's 'Gung: Jang Nok-su Jeon' at 7:30 PM on the 15th in the Grand Performance Hall.
'Gung: Jang Nok-su Jeon' is a creative dance drama reconstructed based on the story of Jang Nok-su, Joseon's top gisaeng and a symbol of desire.
After a successful premiere in 2018, the renewed Jang Nok-su showcases Korean traditional games, gisaeng culture, and palace culture all in one place.
Director Oh Kyung-taek said, "While directing 'Gung: Jang Nok-su Jeon,' a Korean traditional dance drama genre, I tried to preserve its traditional aspects," adding, "Above all, 'dance' is important, and since it is based on a historical figure, I focused on finding the connection between drama and dance, where dance becomes drama and drama blends into dance."
A representative from Gyeongnam Culture and Arts Center stated, "The performance will be conducted strictly following COVID-19 prevention guidelines such as spaced seating, temperature checks, and hand sanitization," and added, "We hope this performance will be a small comfort to those experiencing COVID blues."
Meanwhile, Jeongdong Theater's 'Gung: Jang Nok-su Jeon' is a project partially supported by the Arts Promotion Fund. This performance is hosted by the Korea Culture and Arts Centers Association, organized by Gyeongnam Culture and Arts Center and Jeongdong Theater, and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts Council.
