Naver Builds Supercomputer... Strengthening AI Technology Competitiveness
Building a Korean-Japanese Ultra-Large Language Model
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Naver announced on the 8th that it plans to build the first supercomputer among domestic companies and elevate its artificial intelligence (AI) technology competitiveness to the next level.
Naver has established its own AI platform, 'Clova,' and is conducting AI research and development in various fields such as image and video analysis and natural language processing. Recently, it has been strengthening its global technological competitiveness by creating a global AI research belt connecting Korea, Japan, Europe, and Vietnam.
Naver plans to build a massive language model for Korean and Japanese. Massive language models enable more natural language processing and can significantly enhance AI technology levels, but building them requires not only vast amounts of data but also a supercomputer capable of processing it quickly.
Naver is constructing a supercomputer with performance exceeding 700 petaflops to process the vast data secured through search and messenger services quickly and safely, and aims to develop massive language models for Korean and Japanese that surpass 'GPT-3.'
