[2020 National Audit] "'Unresponsive' 5G, Should Allow Switching to LTE Without Penalty"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] As consumer complaints about 5G service disruptions continue, there are calls for allowing LTE switching without penalty fees.
At the National Assembly Science, Technology, Broadcasting and Communications Committee's audit held on the 8th, Jeon Hye-sook, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (pictured), stated, "The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) has formed a 5G Communication Dispute Mediation Committee, but it is questionable whether proper oversight is being conducted," adding, "Out of 108 cases related to 5G disputes, only five have been resolved. The KCC should also review the remaining complaints and mediate the 5G quality issues."
Jeon said, "If consumers have not received proper 5G service, they should be allowed to switch to LTE without penalty fees," emphasizing, "This is a matter of providing citizens with choice."
