Mokpo National Maritime University Holds Award Ceremony for Outstanding Faculty in Online Classes
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Mokpo National Maritime University (President Park Sung-hyun) announced on the 7th that it held the ‘2020 Academic Year 1st Semester Non-face-to-face Class Lecture Content Excellent Faculty Award Ceremony’ on the 6th in the conference room on the 2nd floor of the university main building.
The selection of excellent lecture content this time targeted the lecture contents uploaded by university faculty on the Learning Management System (LMS) during non-face-to-face classes conducted due to COVID-19, and a fair evaluation was conducted for 9 days from the 14th to the 22nd of last month.
The evaluation process involved selecting candidates based on lecture evaluation results in the first round, followed by a second round where three external experts judged based on criteria such as the suitability of class content and topics, systematic composition of online lecture content, originality of online lecture content, and active interaction between professors and students. Student opinions submitted to the 1st semester excellent lecture essay contest were also reflected in the evaluation.
As a result of the evaluation, five faculty members were selected as excellent lecture content faculty: Professor Ahn Kwang of the Department of Navigation Information Systems, Professor Han Won-hee of the Department of Marine Engineering Systems, Professor Kim Heon-hee of the Department of Marine Engineering Systems, Professor Kim Junho of the Department of Marine Mechatronics, and Professor Jeong Jong-myeon of the Department of Marine Computer Science.
Professor Ahn Kwang of the Department of Navigation Information Systems, who received the highest evaluation, was praised by the judges for his educational methods in the major course ‘Maritime Law,’ including summaries of previous lectures, focused highlights, interaction with students through quizzes, and providing feedback.
President Park Sung-hyun said, “I thank the professors who actively engaged in classes despite the difficult situation caused by COVID-19,” and added, “We will accelerate efforts to improve quality management of non-face-to-face classes by discovering and sharing excellent operation cases of non-face-to-face classes.”
