Dongjak-gu Recruits 136 Participants for COVID-19 Recovery Job Program
Recruitment until the 14th... Residents of Dongjak-gu aged 18 and over with work ability can participate
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) is recruiting 136 participants for the ‘COVID-19 Overcome Local Job Project’ until the 14th.
This project was established to provide temporary jobs to residents facing economic difficulties such as unemployment and business suspension/closure due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, aiming to promote economic stability in their lives and revitalize the stagnant local economy.
Eligible participants are Dongjak-gu residents aged 18 or older with work ability, including ▲low-income groups ▲those with suspended or closed businesses ▲special employment types and freelancers ▲university students, anyone in need of livelihood support can apply. However, those who are already participating in direct job projects such as COVID-19 Overcome Hope Jobs, spouses or children of public officials are excluded from participation.
Residents wishing to participate must submit an application form and other supporting documents to the community service center of their registered residence by the 14th.
The district will conduct a comprehensive review based on ▲whether the applicant belongs to a vulnerable employment group ▲household income ▲number of participations in public job projects, and then consider previous jobs, skills, and health status to make the final selection, which will be individually notified on the 19th.
Selected participants will be assigned to public service administrative tasks such as ▲living quarantine support ▲local environmental maintenance ▲operation of security CCTV ▲welfare civil service support.
The work period is two months from the 20th to December 20th, with 3 to 8 hours per day, 5 days a week at the district office departments and community service centers, applying the minimum hourly wage.

Additionally, the district provided jobs to about 1,350 people this year, including 350 in public job projects related to COVID-19 including public labor in the first half of the year, 950 in hope job projects, and 43 in youth hope job projects.
Yoon So-yeon, head of the Job Policy Division, said, “Through this project, we will provide prompt economic support so that residents facing difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic can recover their daily lives,” and added, “We will continue to actively promote job projects to contribute to residents’ employment stability and livelihood maintenance.”

Last year, the district announced a goal of 129 job creation projects and employment of 14,918 people, but achieved 144 projects and employment of 16,933 people, reaching 113.5% of the target. As a result, it won the Excellence Award in the Job Target Announcement System category at the ‘2020 National Local Government Job Awards Final Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor last month.
