Yongsan-gu, Recruiting Trainees for Air Conditioner Technician Training Program

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yongsan-gu (Mayor Seongjanghyun) is recruiting 20 trainees for the ‘Air Conditioner Installation and Maintenance Technician Training Course’ as part of the 2020 district job fund public-private cooperation support project.
The recruitment target is unemployed young and middle-aged residents living in the area (preferential treatment for those aged 35-45), and the training location is Korea Polytechnic University Seoul Jeongsu Campus (73 Bogwang-ro).
The classes will be held from November 11 to December 18, Monday to Friday, five times a week. Class hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Trainees can learn overall matters related to air conditioner installation and maintenance, including refrigeration and air conditioning, electrical control, and welding, over a total of 168 hours.
Those who wish to attend the training should submit documents such as an application form, self-introduction letter, and consent form for personal information use to the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation at Korea Polytechnic University Seoul Jeongsu Campus by the 30th. Related forms are posted on the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation website.
Korea Polytechnic University will conduct interviews on November 4 to select trainees. The training fee is free, and meal expenses will be supported only for those who complete the course. Employment will also be linked to related companies such as Samsung Electro-Mechanics Logistics partners.
A district official said, “94% of last year’s air conditioner technician training course graduates succeeded in finding employment,” adding, “This year, we will operate the training course with the goal of 100% employment.”
The district is also recruiting 50 participants for the ‘General Security Guard New Training Employment Course (2nd round)’ until the 30th. The recruitment target is residents aged 20-65 living in Yongsan-gu, and the tuition fee is free.
The training will be held for three days from November 2 to 4 and consists of 10 mandatory legal education subjects for security guard employment, including the Security Services Act and Crime Prevention Theory. It covers both theory and practical courses such as facility security and personal protection.
The training is organized by Sogang Vocational School Yongsan Campus (25 Hangang-daero 21-gil), a private security guard vocational training institution designated by the National Police Agency. Applications can be made by visiting or calling Sogang Vocational School, and graduates will be linked to employment at related companies.
