Shinhan Card Celebrates 13th Anniversary with 'Volunteer Festival' Event
Non-Face-to-Face Volunteer Activities Involving Employees' Families and Customers
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Shinhan Card announced on the 6th that it will hold the 'Shinhan Card Areumin Volunteer Festival' to help vulnerable groups struggling due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) on October 1st, the 13th anniversary of its founding.
The Volunteer Festival is a volunteer activity program conducted annually since 2013 as part of win-win management fulfilling corporate social responsibility under Shinhan Financial Group's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) perspective.
This year's event, held over two months in October and November, has converted all volunteer activities to non-face-to-face due to the spread of COVID-19, allowing employees and customer volunteer groups to participate in volunteer activities at home with their families. The volunteer activity program is designed based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs) in terms of sustainable finance, focusing on health and welfare, quality education, gender equality, and women's empowerment.
Various volunteer activities will be conducted, including making 'Braille tactile books' for the visually impaired, creating 'Areumin Dream Boxes' consisting of hygiene products for long-term hospitalized children, making 'Areumin school bags and pencil cases' for children and adolescents in Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and Myanmar where Shinhan Card's overseas subsidiaries operate, and making masks and writing handwritten letters for the hygiene and health of vulnerable elderly people.
In particular, this year, to support medical staff fighting the spread of COVID-19, Shinhan Card employees will produce Areumin Dream Boxes containing hygiene and health products funded by a portion of their salaries and deliver them to medical staff at major hospitals nationwide.
