[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Eight Samsung Electronics smartphones were listed in the US Consumer Reports' recommended 5G smartphone lineup. The Galaxy Note20 received the highest score and was praised for its "significantly improved battery specifications."
On the 5th (local time), US consumer media Consumer Reports announced a list of 15 "best 5G smartphone product recommendations," with Samsung Electronics including eight smartphones, demonstrating its strength as a "5G powerhouse." LG Electronics, Motorola, and OnePlus each had two models included, while Sony had one.
This is the first time Consumer Reports has released a recommended list specifically for 5G smartphones. Also, no Chinese Huawei products were included, which is attributed to the US-China trade dispute preventing Huawei 5G smartphones from entering the US market.
The Samsung smartphones that swept the recommendation list are the Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note20 and Ultra, Galaxy Note10+, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, and Galaxy A71 (domestic model name Galaxy A Quantum). In particular, Consumer Reports said of the Galaxy Note20, "It received the highest rating," and "Compared to last year's model, the screen is larger and brighter, and battery life has been significantly improved."
Regarding the Galaxy S20 series, it explained, "The Galaxy S20 survived our durability test and received the highest score," adding, "The battery life and camera scores are higher for the other two models."
Among foldable products, only the Galaxy Z Flip 5G was listed. Consumer Reports said, "While the foldable screen is an advantage, the device itself scored the lowest," and explained, "Even considering the device form factor, a battery life of 17.5 hours is too short."
