Seongdong-gu Directly Listens to Security Workers' Grievances
Dispatching Monitoring Personnel for On-Site Inspection to Improve Working Conditions of Security Workers in Apartment Complexes... Directly Listening to Work Environment and Grievances for Human Rights Protection and Treatment Improvement Data
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) will conduct a "Security Worker Work Environment Monitoring" starting from the 16th, visiting 88 apartment complexes in the area to directly assess working conditions and grievances.
This monitoring will be carried out by seven monitoring agents who have received prior professional training. They will visit the apartment complexes in person to conduct a thorough investigation across five areas: the size of the security post workspace, basic facilities such as heating, cooling, and ventilation, rest facilities, sanitation facilities, safety facilities, and other facilities including parcel delivery and recycling.
In particular, amid recent social issues regarding power harassment within apartment complexes, the monitoring aims to identify and understand on-site the overall work environment and grievances so that security workers can work in a safe and respectful environment.
The monitoring results will be used as basic data for policy development to improve the treatment of security workers and awareness improvement projects. In the future, through cooperation with related organizations and groups, improvement tasks will be identified and institutionalized.
Earlier, in July, the district signed a "Human Rights Protection Agreement for Apartment Complex Workers" with about 90 apartment complexes in the area to prevent unfair work orders and power harassment by residents. It has continuously promoted support projects for apartment complexes to improve the working environment of security workers, such as installing air conditioners and unmanned parcel lockers in all security posts of 11 apartment complexes.
Additionally, reflecting the revised Seoul Metropolitan Government's Apartment Complex Management Regulations enacted in June this year, efforts are being made to improve the system by requiring each apartment complex to establish regulations prohibiting verbal abuse and assault against security guards, cleaners, and management office staff.
