Kim Tae-nyeon: "Opposition Requests Cooperation for Corruption Investigation Office Launch... Cannot Delay Indefinitely"
"Let's Quickly Activate the Standing Consultative Body of Ruling and Opposition Parties"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Kim Tae-nyeon, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, requested cooperation from the People Power Party on the launch of the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (PCC).
At a press briefing held at the National Assembly on the same day, Floor Leader Kim said, "The opposition party has pledged to recommend members for the PCC chief candidate recommendation committee," adding, "We are waiting for the recommendations to be made as promised, but we cannot delay indefinitely."
Floor Leader Kim emphasized, "I hope the discussion on the three fair economy laws, which began in the 19th National Assembly, will be concluded in this regular session," and added, "The Democratic Party will listen to the opinions of the business community and civil society and will accelerate discussions with the opposition party."
He stated, "The public demands good-faith competition for livelihood issues, not political strife," and continued, "We must build on the achievements of swiftly reaching agreements on livelihood bills such as the 4th supplementary budget, the Family Care Leave Extension Act, and the Commercial Lease Protection Act, and focus more on livelihood issues. I request the prompt activation of the permanent consultative body between the ruling and opposition parties and the government."

Floor Leader Kim said, "We will set four major agendas for this national audit: overcoming national crises, livelihood, future transition, and peace, and prepare thoroughly," and added, "After the audit, we will focus on three major legislative tasks for livelihood, future, and reform."
