No Traffic Jams on the Final Return Trip of the Holiday... "Smoother than Usual Weekends"
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] On the morning of the last day of the Chuseok holiday, the return traffic is flowing smoothly without congestion.
According to Korea Expressway Corporation, as of 9 a.m. on this day, both directions of the Gyeongbu Expressway between Busan and Seoul are experiencing smooth traffic without any congested sections. Vehicles are also maintaining their speeds on the Seohaean Expressway, Yeongdong Expressway, and Jungbu Expressway.
As of 10 a.m. on this day, the travel times by passenger car from major cities nationwide to the Seoul tollgate are similar to usual: Busan 4 hours 50 minutes, Mokpo 3 hours 40 minutes, Ulsan 4 hours 20 minutes, Gwangju 3 hours 40 minutes, Daegu 3 hours 40 minutes, Daejeon 1 hour 30 minutes, and Gangneung 2 hours 40 minutes.
The Expressway Corporation estimated the total traffic volume for the day at 3.55 million vehicles. Among these, 320,000 vehicles are expected to travel from the metropolitan area to local regions, and 370,000 vehicles from local regions to the metropolitan area.
