"All 747 Students at Juyeop High School with Confirmed Cases Test Negative... Small-Scale Infections in Schools and Daycares"
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] All 747 individuals tested negative after undergoing COVID-19 testing over three days at Juyeop High School, where student B, who was confirmed positive on the 29th, is enrolled. Meanwhile, sporadic cluster infections continue to occur nationwide in schools and daycare centers.
Ilsan Seo-gu Public Health Center reported that on September 29, three family members classified as close contacts of a confirmed case from Cheonan City, Chungcheongnam-do, were tested and confirmed positive on the same day.
The three confirmed cases are family members, two of whom are teenage children.
Among the two teenagers, one is university student A (confirmed case number 391), who is known to have had no contacts.
On the other hand, B, the younger sibling attending Juyeop High School (confirmed case number 392), was confirmed to have attended school on September 25 and 28. From that afternoon, COVID-19 tests were conducted on a total of 32 people, including classmates and teachers. All tested negative.
Furthermore, Goyang City, with cooperation from the police and fire department starting the evening of the 29th, expanded the testing scope to include all students and staff present at the school on the days B attended.
As a result of testing 730 people on the 29th, 15 on the 30th, and 2 on the 1st, all 747 individuals tested negative as of 9 a.m. on the 2nd.
A Goyang City official stated, “With the Chuseok holiday approaching, it is especially important to strictly adhere to quarantine guidelines,” and urged, “Students, staff, and families of the school are asked to particularly refrain from traveling during the Chuseok holiday.”
As of 6 p.m. on the 1st, the total number of confirmed cases in Goyang City was 395.
On the 26th, the main gate of Deoksu High School in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, was closed. According to Seoul City and Seongdong-gu, following the confirmation of a COVID-19 case in a second-year student of the school's baseball team residing in Seocho-gu on the 24th, additional positive cases were confirmed on the 25th in a third-year student living in Songpa-gu and a second-year student living in Seongbuk-gu.

Meanwhile, small-scale cluster infections continue nationwide in schools and daycare centers.
In Geumgok-dong, Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, three family members, including one daycare child, were confirmed positive, and in Buk-gu, Busan, an elementary school student tested positive.

The confirmed case is a first-grade student at Baekyang Elementary School who attended school daily and participated in after-school care classes. During in-person classes from the 22nd to the 25th, the student attended lessons with classmates in the same classroom. Consequently, in-person classes have been temporarily suspended, and approximately 200 students and staff have been tested.
