Democratic Party 34.5%, People Power Party 31.2%... Realmeter "Gap Within Margin of Error"
Positive Ratings of President Moon Jae-in's National Administration Decline
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] A public opinion poll showed that the support gap between the ruling and opposition parties has narrowed within the margin of error.
According to a survey conducted on 1,000 voters nationwide by Realmeter on the 30th commissioned by TBS, the support rate for the Democratic Party of Korea rose by 0.4 percentage points from the previous week to 34.5%, while the support rate for the People Power Party increased by 2.3 percentage points to 31.2%.
The gap between the Democratic Party and the People Power Party narrowed to 3.3%, falling within the margin of error (95% confidence level ±3.1 percentage points) for the first time in three weeks. It is also the first time in three weeks that the People Power Party's support rate rose to 30% in the weekly tally.
The Democratic Party's support increased among those in their 20s (up 7.5 percentage points) but declined among those in their 50s (down 4.8 percentage points) and 30s (down 3.9 percentage points). Support among progressives also fell by 4.2 percentage points.
On the other hand, the People Power Party's support rose among those in their 20s (up 4.9 percentage points) and 50s (up 4.5 percentage points). Support increased among both conservatives (up 7.2 percentage points) and progressives (up 3.4 percentage points).
Looking at the daily survey results, the support rates for the two parties narrowed to 32.3% for the Democratic Party and 30.8% for the People Power Party on the 28th. On the 29th, the gap widened again with the Democratic Party at 34.5% and the People Power Party at 31.2%.
Meanwhile, positive evaluations of President Moon Jae-in's administration dropped by 0.5 percentage points from the previous week to 44.2%. Negative evaluations rose by 0.4 percentage points to 51.9%. The gap between positive and negative evaluations stands at 7.7 percentage points, which is outside the margin of error.

President Moon's approval rating fell significantly in Daegu·Gyeongbuk (down 4.5 percentage points) and Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam (down 3.6 percentage points). In particular, support among progressives dropped by 5.6 percentage points.
