Seoul Gangseo-gu Selected as ‘Excellent District’ for 6 Consecutive Years in Government Joint Evaluation
Selected as an Excellent Case in Various Indicators Including the Community Youth Integrated Support System
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) was selected as an ‘Excellent District’ for the sixth consecutive year in the ‘2020 Government Joint Evaluation’ conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The Government Joint Evaluation assesses national delegated tasks, national subsidy projects, and major national policies carried out by cities, provinces, and districts nationwide over the past year. The final evaluation is conducted through joint verification by central government ministries and evaluation committees.
Seoul City evaluated 25 autonomous districts based on the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s evaluation criteria to encourage active participation in the Government Joint Evaluation, assigning S, A, and B grades.
As a result, Gangseo-gu was selected with the highest grade, ‘S grade,’ once again proving the excellence of its overall district administration and receiving a financial incentive of 40 million KRW.
In particular, the following were recognized as excellent cases: ▲ Integrated support system for local youth ▲ Activation of youth participation and activities ▲ Management of construction site household waste ▲ Efforts to improve multicultural family support projects ▲ Efforts to support the stable settlement of North Korean defectors ▲ Expansion of future agricultural income projects.
Gangseo-gu regularly held reporting meetings to review performance, established sector-specific measures for indicators with poor performance, and actively promoted them to achieve excellent results.

A district official stated, “Being selected as an ‘Excellent District’ for six consecutive years is the result of all employees doing their best,” and added, “For indicators with poor results this year, we will prepare measures to supplement them through meticulous analysis and strive to be selected as an ‘Excellent District’ again next year.”
