Netmarble Acquires 'RF Online' IP... Developing Mobile Game
Netmarble N2 to Develop Mobile Version Planned
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Netmarble announced on the 28th that it has signed a contract to acquire the intellectual property (IP) of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) 'RF Online' together with the domestic game developer CCR.
This acquisition contract involves obtaining the original IP of RF Online, granting Netmarble all rights for development and service using the RF Online IP, as well as all rights related to derivative products.
The mobile version of RF Online will be developed by Netmarble's subsidiary, Netmarble N2. Kwon Young-sik, CEO of Netmarble, stated, "By combining the RF Online IP, which has been loved by fans both domestically and internationally for a long time, with our mobile game development and service capabilities, we will be able to provide users with newer and more distinctive games."

RF Online is a PC MMORPG released in 2004. At the time of its launch, it recorded 150,000 concurrent users in Korea, and later expanded to Japan, Taiwan, and China, achieving $10 million in contract fees alone, creating a sensation in both domestic and international markets.
