Naver Contest Announces Winners in Web Novel Category... Total Prize Money 1.5 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] The winning works in the web novel category of the '2020 Naver Webtoon & Web Novel Grand Contest' were announced on the 25th.
The grand contest's web novel category was divided into romance, romance fantasy, fantasy, modern fantasy, martial arts, and mystery genres, with a total of 28 works selected.
In the romance category, Seol Woohee's "Again, Contract Couple" won the grand prize; in romance fantasy, Puzzle's "I Became the Ex-Wife of the Obsessive Male Lead"; and in fantasy, Seonun's "I Alone Grow Infinitely with Special Traits" received the grand prize.
Other genre grand prize winners include Jeong Seonyul's "I Obtained a Mythical Bound Item" (modern fantasy), Choi Jakka7's "The Youngest Master of the Baek Family" (martial arts), and New Lucky's "Oya New: Let's Grab the Collar Once" (mystery).
Each grand prize winner receives a prize of 50 million KRW and opportunities to produce webtoons and audio dramas based on their web novels.
Six recipients of the excellence award each receive 30 million KRW, and sixteen recipients of the merit award each receive 10 million KRW. Detailed award results can be found on the Grand Contest website.
Now in its second year, the Grand Contest is the largest domestic webtoon and web novel contest with a total prize pool of 1.5 billion KRW.
The second round of the webtoon category is currently accepting submissions until October 4th.
