Q2 Construction Contract Amount 63.7 Trillion Won... Up 13% YoY
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] The construction contract amount for the second quarter (April to June) of this year was recorded at 63.7 trillion KRW, a 13% increase compared to the same period last year.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 24th that this figure was compiled and analyzed based on construction contract amounts reported to the Construction Industry Comprehensive Information Network (KISCON).
By sector, public construction contracts increased in civil engineering, reaching 13.9 trillion KRW, which is a 6.5% increase compared to the same period last year. The private sector saw a 15% increase to 49.7 trillion KRW, driven by growth in building construction.
The contract amount in the civil engineering sector (including industrial facilities and landscaping) recorded 13.9 trillion KRW, a 0.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
The building sector, boosted by an increase in residential buildings such as apartments, was recorded at 49.8 trillion KRW, a 17% increase compared to the same period last year.
By company ranking, the top 1 to 50 companies recorded contracts worth 25.8 trillion KRW, a 22.6% increase compared to the same period last year. Companies ranked 51 to 100 recorded 3.9 trillion KRW (12.4% increase), those ranked 101 to 300 recorded 4.3 trillion KRW (8.1% increase), and companies ranked 301 to 1,000 recorded 5.6 trillion KRW (5.1% increase).
By location, the Seoul metropolitan area recorded 32.6 trillion KRW, a 19.3% increase compared to the same period last year, while non-metropolitan areas recorded 31.1 trillion KRW, a 7.1% increase.
