Kolon Sports Opens New Flagship Store in Hannam-dong
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Kolon Industries FnC Division (hereinafter Kolon FnC) is opening the flagship store "Kolon Sports Hannam" in Hannam-dong on the 24th, operated by its outdoor brand Kolon Sports.
Kolon Sports Hannam was planned under the concept of "Way to Kolon Sports" to allow customers to discover a new aspect of outdoor activities. It aims to be a "experience store" of the brand through cultural content beyond just products.
To this end, an exhibition space for viewing artworks and a showroom for sales were combined into one space. The exhibition content was created in collaboration with the exhibition planning company "Glint," which operates the complex cultural space "Picnic," to achieve an organic connection between artworks and products.
Kolon Sports Hannam consists of two floors: one basement level and one above ground. The first floor above ground is designed as an exhibition space where visitors can experience the brand in a unique way.
The first exhibition, launched with the store opening, features three teams: graphic designer Song Yehwan, video design studio "Ipjafield," and media art lab Team Node. The theme is "Urban Outdoor" (outdoor activities within the city), such as hiking and trail running, which have emerged as new trends in the COVID-19 era.
Graphic designer Song Yehwan installed a virtual natural space composed of digital devices among plants called "Son-garak-gwa-rak-gwa-gyeong." When fingers move over the sky, land, and sea screens, each screen responds, and a reaction starting on one screen soon affects the others. This structure reflects the characteristics of outdoor culture, where individuals move independently yet interact with each other.
Ipjafield expressed urban outdoor through various people running in a virtual landscape collaged with 2D graphics. The video is installed with a 5-meter-wide panorama and allows for individual characters to be projected in an enlarged form through Song Yehwan’s "Son-garak-gwa-rak-gwa-gyeong." Visitors can participate directly, enabling an interactive viewing experience.

To commemorate the flagship opening, a unique scent and store identity were developed exclusively for Kolon Sports Hannam. In collaboration with the fragrance brand "Sutome Apothecary," the scent "Greenery" was created for Kolon Sports Hannam. The design identity was differentiated with a new evergreen tree motif exclusive to the flagship store. The hand-drawn evergreen tree logo forms a forest, with each letter of Kolon Sports seemingly nestled within the forest. This design can be found on Kolon Sports Hannam’s shopping bags and throughout the store.
