[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Eleven social enterprises and social ventures participating in 'SOVAC 2020 (Social Value Connect 2020)', the largest private social value festival in Korea hosted by SK Group, have shared their impressions, drawing attention.
Eleven social enterprises and social ventures supported by SK Innovation (Cheonnyeonnuri Food, More Than, Wooshisan, Grape Lab, Somuna, Mongsenoo, Innomad, Marine Innovation, O2M, Injin, Maenggeurob) shared their thoughts and insights on participating in 'SOVAC 2020' in an untact (non-face-to-face) manner as the event came to a close.
These eleven companies, created to utilize the rich and beneficial content of ‘SOVAC’ in their management, are nicknamed the ‘SOVAC Avengers.’ Furthermore, as protagonists of ‘SOVAC,’ they take charge of promoting social value not only among their members but also in their surrounding communities.
Throughout the event, the ‘SOVAC Avengers’ supported ‘SOVAC 2020’ through online platforms such as YouTube in a non-face-to-face manner and continued discussions related to social value based on lectures. Additionally, ahead of the closing, they shared their insights and participation impressions directly on the band platform to exchange what they gained from ‘SOVAC 2020.’
Byun Eui-hyun, CEO of the social enterprise ‘Wooshisan,’ which upcycles marine plastic waste into eco-bags and dolls, said, "I have always been interested in creating social value, but I often felt limited due to a lack of information and knowledge," and expressed hope that events like SOVAC 2020 would be held more frequently in the future.
Seo Jun-geol, CEO of the social venture ‘O2M,’ which produces oxygen-generating masks, shared, "Through SOVAC 2020, I was able to experience insights from various fields about practical methods and alternatives to change society, which helped broaden social empathy."
Seong Yong-jun, CEO of the social venture ‘Injin,’ which is developing and commercializing coastal wave power generation technology, reflected on the theme of ‘SOVAC 2020’ held on the 23rd, ‘The Core DNA of Future Talent, Empathy,’ stating, "The more successful experiences and compliments we receive, the more we tend to fall into the trap of not empathizing and believing our own thoughts are correct," and pledged, "I will keep in mind that the ‘E’ in CEO also stands for empathy."
