Through his Facebook on the same day, Prime Minister Chung announced the negative test result and said, "Although it was a preemptive measure following a staff member's confirmed case, I thank the public for their concern and feel somewhat apologetic."
He continued, "Having taken the test myself, I felt waves of anxiety and fear until the results came out, and I realized the reality that no one is completely safe from COVID-19," emphasizing the point.
He added, "To end this situation as soon as possible, I will devote myself even more to my role as the head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters (CDSCH)."
Earlier, when a staff member at the Prime Minister's Office tested positive for COVID-19 in the morning, Prime Minister Chung canceled his afternoon schedule and underwent a diagnostic test at a health center in Jongno-gu, Seoul. He waited for the test results at the Prime Minister's official residence and received a negative result around 6 p.m.
