Martial Arts, Hosts '2020 Tokyo G-Fair Korean Products Online Export Consultation'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Korea International Trade Association and Gyeonggi Provincial Government will hold the '2020 Tokyo G-Fair Korean Products Online Export Consultation' from the 23rd to the 29th at COEX in Seoul and the Gyeonggi-do Gwanggyo R&DB Center.
The Tokyo Korean Products Exhibition and Consultation (Tokyo G-Fair) was first held in 2002 to support the export of competitive Korean small and medium-sized enterprises' products to Japan. Since then, it has been held annually in Tokyo, Japan without fail until last year, but this year, due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), it will be held for the first time in a non-face-to-face online video consultation format.
This event features 45 Korean companies selected from Gyeonggi-do, including The Partners, a manufacturer of lift serums that use plant stem cell extracts to improve wrinkles; Lucionon, which produces sheet-type cleansing products used one sheet at a time; Cheongwoo CNT, a personal air purifier company; and Magic Cube, which offers educational magnetic blocks and educational content. Through prior matching with these companies, about 100 Japanese buyers participated in the consultation, including Rakuten, Japan's second-largest internet shopping mall; CGC Japan, a large supermarket chain; and Konan Shoji, a wholesale and retail distributor related to construction and home interior.
A Rakuten representative who participated in the consultation said, "Due to the impact of COVID-19, online purchasing demand among Japanese consumers is rapidly increasing, so if Korean companies focus on the online market, various business opportunities will open up."

Cho Hak-hee, head of the International Business Division at the Trade Association, said, "This year, there were many difficulties until the event was held due to COVID-19, but by switching to non-face-to-face video consultations, we were able to continue the event for the 19th year. We hope that the Tokyo Korean Products Exhibition and Consultation will serve as a communication platform where companies from both countries share new products and market trends, and become an opportunity to open the door to Korea-Japan private economic cooperation."
