Ministry of Foreign Affairs Issues 3rd Global Special Travel Advisory... Until Next Month 18
Measures Equivalent to Travel Alert Level 2 to 3 Considering the Spread of COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 18th that it will reissue a special travel advisory for all overseas travel by Korean nationals to all countries and regions for one month starting from the 19th. This special travel advisory will remain in effect until October 18th unless an extension is separately decided.
The special travel advisory was first issued on March 23, reissued for the second time on June 20, and this is the third issuance. The special travel advisory is issued in cases of urgent short-term risks according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' directive "Travel Alert System Operation Guidelines." It corresponds to a measure equivalent to travel alert levels 2 to 3 and is valid for up to 90 days from the date of issuance.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered the following: △ The World Health Organization (WHO) declaration of a global pandemic and the continued worldwide spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) △ The ongoing situation where a significant number of countries have imposed entry bans or restrictions on all travelers worldwide and suspended flight operations. In addition to preventing cases of COVID-19 infection during overseas travel, the need to refrain from overseas visits for domestic quarantine purposes also influenced this reissuance decision.
