View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon criticized the ruling party on the 15th for defending the allegations of preferential military leave granted to the son of Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae, Seo, urging them to "stop making frivolous remarks and present fundamental solutions to the problem."
On the same day, Jin posted on his Facebook that in response to Kim Tae-nyeon, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stating there was no issue with the minister's son's use of military leave, "Why not operate the military entirely on a remote duty system?"
He added sarcastically, "Thanks to Private Seo, soldiers have regained rights they were unaware of until now. Building on this momentum, how about running the military completely contactless? Even roll call could be recognized if done by their mothers."
Earlier, Floor Leader Kim said at a party strategy meeting held at the National Assembly that "According to Army regulations, leave can be used even if the soldier has not returned, provided there is approval from the person in charge," and "Applications can be made via phone, email, or KakaoTalk."
He further stated, "The fact is that the young man underwent knee surgery during his military service, and due to poor recovery, extended personal leave was used for treatment. This matter, which should not be problematic at all, has been sensationalized into a massive power-related corruption scandal by the opposition's reckless political attacks. It is a typical case of 'calling a deer a horse' (misrepresenting facts)."
