US Man Who Deceived as 'IQ 160 Doctor Resembling Tom Cruise' Donates Sperm, Becomes Father of 36 Children

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] It was recently revealed that a convicted criminal in the United States disguised his identity to donate sperm and became the biological father of 36 children.
According to the British media outlet The Sun on the 12th (local time), American Chris Angeles donated sperm twice a week through the Zytex sperm bank in Georgia, USA, starting in 2000, earning money to cover living expenses.
The mothers who received the sperm knew him not by name but as "Donor 9623." The sperm bank informed these mothers that the donor had an IQ of 160, spoke four languages, and was preparing a Ph.D. in the field of neuroengineering. They also said he resembled Hollywood actor Tom Cruise in appearance.
The sperm, which was popular even within the sperm bank, was sent to several places including the UK and Canada. It is reported that at least 36 children have been born from Angeles's sperm.
The problem lies in the fact that all the personal information he provided when donating sperm was false. He never prepared for a Ph.D. and had actually dropped out of college. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1999 and was prosecuted for robbery in 2005, serving an eight-month prison sentence. In 2014, he even attempted suicide by borrowing a gun at a shooting range.
This fact came to light in 2014, about 14 years after he started donating sperm, when the sperm bank accidentally sent his real name, Chris Angeles, and email address to one family.
Since then, families who received the sperm have sued Angeles for fraud. They have also filed more than 12 lawsuits against the sperm bank since 2016, with one lawsuit currently pending in the Georgia Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, after the truth was exposed, Angeles recently expressed on a podcast, "I ask for forgiveness from the families involved, especially the children," adding, "I am very sorry for betraying their trust and I am not happy."
In the broadcast, Angeles also explained the circumstances under which he donated his sperm to the sperm bank using false personal information. He said, "When I dreamed of succeeding as a drummer, I dropped out of college, and one of my roommates saw a newspaper ad and told me about the sperm bank."
