Israel Implements Second Nationwide Lockdown Amid COVID-19 Resurgence
Cannot travel more than 500m from home
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] The Israeli government has decided to implement a nationwide lockdown in response to the resurgence of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
This is the second nationwide lockdown since the one that was enforced for two months starting in March this year due to the COVID-19 situation.
According to Israeli media such as Haaretz on the 14th, the lockdown measure approved by the Israeli cabinet will be implemented for three weeks starting from 2 p.m. on the 18th, the beginning of the holiday "Rosh Hashanah" (Jewish New Year holiday).
Accordingly, residents in Israel will not be allowed to travel more than 500 meters from their homes, and schools, shopping malls, and hotels will be closed. Indoor gatherings will be limited to a maximum of 10 people, and outdoor gatherings will be allowed up to 20 people. However, supermarkets and pharmacies will continue to operate despite the lockdown measures.

According to the international statistics site "Worldometer," Israel's daily new confirmed cases were 3,331 on the 7th, 3,590 on the 8th, 3,532 on the 9th, 4,429 on the 10th, 3,038 on the 11th, 4,158 on the 12th, and 2,882 on the 13th.
