Statistics Korea Announces Award-Winning Papers Including "Does Sharing Increase Life Satisfaction?" and Six Others
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] On the 14th, Statistics Korea announced the selection of 7 outstanding papers following the review of the Statistics Korea Thesis Contest.
This year, a total of 45 papers in the fields of economics, society, population, education, and health were submitted, and outstanding papers were selected through evaluations by experts in the related fields.
The Grand Prize was awarded to Pyeon Changhoon (Ph.D. candidate in Social Welfare at Yonsei University) for his thesis titled "Does Sharing Increase Life Satisfaction?". The Excellence Awards went to Kim Youngseo (Master's candidate in Education at Korea University), who analyzed potential profile types of young entrepreneurs, and Choi Eunji (Ph.D. candidate in Regional Information at Seoul National University), who studied the impact of transportation infrastructure investment on agricultural income.
The thesis contest has been held annually since 2003 to promote research utilizing microdata and big data and to expand the base of data-driven policy research.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on the 15th at the Statistics Development Institute within the Daejeon Statistics Center.
