Eunpyeong-gu Safety and Autonomy Manifesto Contest Excellence Award Winner
Smart City Eunpyeong Recognized as Benchmarking Model for Excellence by Multiple Organizations
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) won the Excellence Award in the Safety Autonomy category at the 2020 National Basic Local Government Heads Manifesto Best Practice Competition, jointly hosted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters and the Gyeonggi Research Institute.
Marking the 11th edition of the Manifesto Competition this year, Eunpyeong-gu has achieved continuous awards since 2013.
This year's Manifesto Competition was held online due to COVID-19 social distancing measures. Presentation videos were produced for each selected case, and online evaluations were conducted.
The competition, themed "Innovative Dialogue for Future Society," invited submissions in seven categories: ▲Job and Employment Improvement ▲Income Gap Resolution ▲Response to Super-Aging ▲Climate and Environment ▲Safety Autonomy ▲Regional Culture Revitalization ▲Newsletters and Broadcasting. A total of 353 cases from 144 local governments nationwide participated in the contest.
At this competition, Eunpyeong-gu presented the case of "Smart City Eunpyeong, where People, Technology, and Space Coexist Harmoniously" in the Safety Autonomy category.
Smart City Eunpyeong integrates 4th Industrial Revolution technologies in safety, welfare, health, environment, disaster, and transportation sectors. Its safety services, such as the Safe Service, Smart City Integrated Platform, AI Health Center, AI Object Recognition Large Waste Disposal System, risk facility data analysis using IoT sensors, and child eye-level traffic safety measures, embody social value, which was highly evaluated.
Eunpyeong-gu's smart city construction project has been recognized by various institutions including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Science and ICT, serving as a benchmark for best practices. The project continues to promote innovative technologies and smart city policies in parallel to create a sustainably innovative growth city, Eunpyeong.
