The Hyundai Motor consortium announced on the 13th that it has signed an agreement with Incheon City to promote the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 'Smart City Challenge Project.'
Earlier this year, Hyundai Motor formed a consortium with Incheon City, Hyundai AutoEver, CL, Yonsei University, and others to conduct the 'Incheon e-eum' pilot project. With this new agreement, consortium companies including Hyundai Card, Blue Walnut, eB Card, and KST Mobility have joined, and the project will be carried out for three years from September this year to December 2022.
This agreement follows the Hyundai Motor consortium's 'Incheon e-eum' pilot project with Incheon City being finally selected as the 'Smart City Challenge Project' by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in February. The Ministry's 'Smart City Challenge Project' is a program that develops and applies new models combining private sector creative ideas with local governments' administrative and financial capabilities to solve various urban problems such as transportation, environment, and safety.
The pilot project operated app-based demand-responsive buses 'I-MOD' and electric kickboards 'I-ZET' in Yeongjong International City for two months starting at the end of last year. The Hyundai Motor consortium will enhance the existing project by adding ▲region-customized service model packaging ▲location-based customized content linked with local commercial districts ▲I-ZET battery replacement stations, providing more advanced services. Additionally, the service area will be gradually expanded from Yeongjong International City to Songdo International City, Namdong National Industrial Complex, and Geomdan New City.
During the pilot project, the Hyundai Motor consortium operated 8 I-MOD vehicles and 45 I-ZET units. During this project period, operations will expand to a maximum of 20 I-MOD vehicles and 300 I-ZET units, establishing them as core solutions to Incheon City's transportation issues.
Furthermore, the integrated mobility service project will link I-MOD and I-ZET not only with subways and buses but also with intelligent short-distance shared taxis granted regulatory exemptions under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Smart City Demonstration Project, aiming to foster coexistence and development with existing transportation modes.
