Pyeongtaek City Holds Ssangyong Motor Labor-Management-Government-Community Special Council Meeting
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Pyeongtaek City announced on the 11th that it held a special tripartite council meeting involving labor, management, government, and civic groups to support Ssangyong Motor's successful investor attraction.
The meeting held at Pyeongtaek City Hall was attended by Jeong Jang-seon, Mayor of Pyeongtaek, Hong Ki-won, Member of the National Assembly from the Democratic Party, Moon Sung-hyun, Chairman of the Economic, Social and Labor Council, Hong Seon-ui, Chairperson of the Pyeongtaek City Council, Lee Gye-an, Chairman of the Sustainability Foundation, and representatives of labor and management from Ssangyong Motor.
Earlier, on May 8, Pyeongtaek City formed a special council involving labor, management, government, and civic groups, agreeing to mutually cooperate, recognizing that the normalization of Ssangyong Motor's management would be a major driving force for revitalizing the local economy.
At this fourth council meeting, the process and achievements of attracting new investors pursued by Ssangyong Motor were explained, and it was resolved to actively play a role and make efforts to produce tangible results not only in the company's management normalization but also in the local economy and employment stability.
Furthermore, the labor-management-government-civic council agreed to request government support for the prompt normalization of Ssangyong Motor's management.

On July 6, Pyeongtaek City sent a petition to President Moon Jae-in, Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Sung Yun-mo, and Chairman of KDB Industrial Bank Lee Dong-gul for the normalization of Ssangyong Motor. The Pyeongtaek City Council also held a meeting among council members and issued a statement urging support.
