Busan 'Gangseo City Bus Public Garage' to Open by the End of Next Year
Approval of Public Parking Lot Location in Development Restriction Zone... Expected to Alleviate Public Transportation Issues in Gangseo Area
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The 'Gangseo City Bus Public Garage Construction Project,' promoted by Busan City to alleviate public transportation difficulties in the Gangseo area of Busan, will be actively pursued.
Busan City announced on the 10th that the agenda to change the Greenbelt management plan related to the development site was approved as originally proposed at the Central Urban Planning Committee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 8th.
This project involves constructing a city bus public garage with a capacity of 300 buses on a 50,140㎡ site in Hwajeon-dong, Gangseo-gu, with a project cost of 13 billion KRW.
To this end, in March 2018, the city underwent a review by the Busan City Urban Planning Committee to decide on the bus public garage facility and applied for a change in the Greenbelt management plan in April of the same year.
In June, the project was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's '2020 Bus Public Garage Support Project,' securing 3.72 billion KRW in national funds for construction.
The Gangseo-gu area has seen a rapid influx of population due to large-scale urban development projects such as Myeongji Ocean City, Myeongji International New City, and Sinhyo District, but bus routes have been insufficient, causing inconvenience to residents. There was no integrated garage centered on the Gangseo area, limiting efficient route expansion and additional buses.
Once the Gangseo city bus public garage is established by the end of next year, 300 buses with Gangseo as their starting and ending points will be housed in the public garage, expected to overcome the limitations of bus route expansion caused by the absence of an integrated garage in the Gangseo area.
