In particular, in Daegu, where confirmed cases had surged from gatherings in the Seoul metropolitan area, churches, and Dongchunghacho business briefings, no locally transmitted confirmed cases have been reported for 15 days since the 24th of last month. Daegu had maintained a record of 43 consecutive days without local infections from July 4th, but suffered from a wave of confirmed cases originating from the Seoul metropolitan area on August 16th.
According to Daegu City on the 8th, as of midnight, the cumulative number of confirmed cases increased to 7,086 with the addition of 2 new imported cases from overseas the previous day. The number of COVID-19 related deaths in Daegu remained the same as the previous day at 187.
The 2 new confirmed cases are Indian nationals in their 50s (residing in Suseong-gu and Dalseo-gu) who arrived on the 6th and tested positive at the Dongdaegu Station walk-through screening clinic.
Regarding the Manna Korean Buffet Restaurant located in Nongong-eup, Dalseong-gun, Daegu, a full inspection of 70 restaurant users from the 31st of last month to the 2nd revealed that 69 tested negative except for one person (a person in their 20s residing in Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk).

Accordingly, as of midnight on that day, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Gyeongbuk rose to 1,436, with 61 imported cases from overseas.
