On the 7th, in an interview with CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' Supreme Council Member Shin said, "Mechanically giving money equally is neither fairness nor justice."
He pointed out, "Rather, this could ultimately become the logic of the wealthy and strengthen inequality," adding, "Shouldn't more benefits go to low-income groups instead of high-income groups taking them?"
He explained, "Giving 100,000 won to someone earning 100 million won annually and giving the same amount to a low-income person have different effects on stimulating consumption," adding, "Low-income people simply do not have money to spend. Therefore, giving 100,000 won immediately stimulates consumption."
Regarding Governor Lee's advocacy for universal payments, Supreme Council Member Shin said, "While there are certain advantages, I think this claim is somewhat excessive," and countered, "The effect of stimulating consumption is determined by the total amount, and whether selective or universal, the total amount is the same."
Regarding Governor Lee's criticism of the government's selective payment on his Facebook on the 6th, he said, "It is natural to have various opinions and brainstorming."
