Japan's Daily COVID-19 Cases Reach 500s... Okinawa Emergency Declaration Lifted
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] The daily number of new COVID-19 cases in Japan has remained between 500 and 600 for the fourth consecutive day.
According to the local public broadcaster NHK's tally, as of 8:30 PM on the 4th, 587 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed across Japan. This brings the total cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Japan to 71,705. Since the beginning of this month, daily new cases in Japan were 633 on the 1st, 596 on the 2nd, and 659 on the 3rd, showing a decrease compared to last month's daily average of around 1,000 cases.

The number of new cases by region were 136 in Tokyo-to, 108 in Kanagawa-ken, 74 in Osaka-fu, and 28 in Okinawa-ken. Due to the declining trend in new COVID-19 cases, Okinawa-ken lifted its independently declared state of emergency starting from the 5th.
