Gyeonggi Provincial Special Judicial Police Crack Down on Numerous Unregistered Environmental Companies
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has uncovered a large number of unregistered environmental specialized construction companies that have illegally carried out environmental pollution prevention facility construction, which only registered companies are allowed to perform.
The Gyeonggi Province Special Judicial Police Unit announced on the 3rd that from July 13 to 31, they investigated 556 companies emitting environmental pollutants for pollution prevention facilities and detected 38 cases of illegal construction by unregistered environmental specialized construction companies, leading to criminal charges.
The Environmental Technology Industry Act stipulates that companies registered as environmental specialized construction businesses with professional technical personnel must carry out the construction of environmental pollution prevention facilities to prevent the emission of pollutants.
The province explained that unregistered environmental specialized construction companies have not had their construction capabilities verified, making poor-quality construction highly likely.
In violation cases, a company 'ㄱ' in Gimpo City that manufactures blowers was found to have illegally constructed environmental pollution prevention facilities without registration as an environmental specialized construction business. A company 'ㄴ' in Incheon City that imports and installs automated machinery was confirmed to have illegally constructed prevention facilities such as filter dust collectors without registration.
An unregistered environmental specialized construction company 'ㄷ' in Bucheon City paid a registered environmental specialized construction company 'ㄹ' located in Incheon City to carry out design, permit, and report agency services, then illegally constructed prevention facilities, and was caught.
