At the 36th Deputy Ministerial Meeting held that day, Deputy Minister Jeong presented the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's plans for active administration in the second half of this year and shared outstanding cases so far.
◆Established Evaluation Criteria to Support Market Entry...Resolved COVID-19 Related Mobility Issues for Businesspeople
The ministry improved the safety and performance evaluation system that delayed market entry of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), a next-generation hydrogen fuel cell attracting attention.
In April, the Ministry's National Institute of Technology and Standards established new evaluation criteria suitable for the product and promptly granted certification.
By utilizing the ministry's convergence new product conformity certification system, the procedure that used to take two years was reduced to six months.
In the trade sector, to resolve cross-border mobility difficulties faced by businesspeople stranded due to COVID-19, a one-stop support center was operated.
On the 13th of last month, the 'Comprehensive Businesspeople Immigration Center' was opened. It addresses issues related to the use of special charter flights for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and provides immigration-related information.
The center is managed by related ministries including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and affiliated organizations such as the Korea International Trade Association, Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, KOTRA, and the Small and Medium Business Corporation.
In the new and renewable energy sector, the system was improved to expand small hydropower generation. Since April, small hydropower generation for buildings has been included in the support system for new and renewable energy dissemination.
Businesses included in the support target receive policies such as installation subsidies for new and renewable energy facilities, mandatory installation of new and renewable energy, building energy efficiency ratings, and zero-energy building certification.
Small hydropower generation refers to hydropower with a facility capacity of less than 10MW, which had mainly been installed outdoors due to insufficient building installation technology. With the development of building-use small hydropower technology, the system was improved.
