LS Cable & System Launches Korea's First Busduct for Data Centers
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] LS Cable & System announced on the 3rd that it has developed and launched a new busduct product for data centers (IDC) for the first time in Korea.
A busduct is a structure that replaces electrical wires by assembling flat conductors inside a metal case in a long, modular form. It is used in buildings requiring large amounts of power, such as super high-rise buildings, apartments, and factories.
Busducts are easy to install and move, and their volume is less than half that of electrical wires, making them highly space-efficient. LS Cable & System explained that installation costs can be reduced by more than 15%, leading to increased adoption.
Busducts reduce power consumption by about 30% compared to electrical wires, contributing to operational cost savings and the construction of eco-friendly data centers.
The IDC-specific product developed by LS Cable & System features a movable power unit installed on the ceiling busduct, allowing server power cords to be plugged in wherever needed. When using wires in server rooms, complex bundles of wires on the floor made server relocation and expansion difficult.
LS Cable & System supplies products to major semiconductor companies, petrochemical plants, large shopping malls, and super high-rise buildings, maintaining the number one position in the domestic busduct market. The company plans to expand into markets such as renewable energy including wind towers, ships, and drilling vessels.
