Dong-Eui University Leads Urban Regeneration in Geoje Okpo City
Department of Civil Engineering, Major in Architecture, Signs MOU with Okpo Urban Regeneration Agency
The Department of Architecture, Construction Engineering at Dong-Eui University signed a business agreement on August 27 with several organizations in the Okpo area of Geoje to discover local assets.
View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Department of Architectural Engineering, Major in Architecture (Major Professor Choi Im-ju) at Dong-Eui University (President Han Soo-hwan) signed a "Business Agreement for Discovering Local Assets through Public-Private-Academic Cooperation" on August 27 with the Okpo Urban Regeneration Residents' Council (Chairman Kim Young-gyu) and the Okpo Urban Regeneration Field Support Center (Director Song Ho-seok).
The institutions agreed to cooperate in rediscovering the characteristics of Okpo, Geoje City, conducting joint research on ways to utilize local resources, generating ideas for promoting urban regeneration projects, and seeking continuous linkage plans through urban architectural mutual cooperation.
Through this agreement, a "Local Asset Discovery and Specialization Project with Residents and University" will also be carried out.
In the Dong-Eui University design studio class, students will share urban regeneration ideas, and teams composed of Okpo local residents and students will hold an idea competition called the Idea Marathon.

The final results of this project will be exhibited at Geoje City Hall in December and will be used as basic data for future urban regeneration projects.
