Thorough Preemptive Measures for Typhoon Preparedness at Gurye Traditional Market
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] On the 2nd, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that a public-private joint team consisting of the county office, Korea Facilities Safety Corporation, and the Market Merchants Association conducted a safety inspection of the 5-day market on the 5th.
The Gurye 5-day market, where floodwaters rose higher than an adult's height due to heavy rain, had been in the process of restoring its facilities and preparing merchandise for sale in order to reopen.
The joint inspection team conducted a focused safety check on the structural aspects of buildings to ensure the safety of visitors to the traditional market ahead of its reopening, as well as in preparation for Typhoon Maysak, the 9th typhoon making landfall on the Korean Peninsula.
According to the safety inspection results, the county plans to immediately address minor issues and gradually improve facilities requiring upgrades through the traditional market facility modernization project.
