[2020 Women's Lives] Last Year, Women's Hourly Wage Was 16,358 Won... 69.4% of Men's Level
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Last year, the hourly wage of female wage workers was around 16,000 won, which was 69.4% of that of males.
According to the "2020 Statistics on Women's Lives" report released on the 2nd by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and Statistics Korea, the hourly wage of female wage workers last year was 16,358 won, an increase of 84.7% compared to 10 years ago.
The hourly wage gender ratio rose from 61.1% in 2009 to 64.1% in 2014, and 69.4% last year.
The wages of female non-regular workers increased by 107.4% compared to 2009, while male non-regular workers' wages rose by 91.3% during the same period.
Last year, the hourly wage of female non-regular workers was 13,417 won, which is 76.4% of the hourly wage of female regular workers (17,564 won).
Last year, the number of female basic livelihood security recipients was 989,000, an increase of about 800 (8.8%) compared to the previous year.
Compared to 2009, the number of female basic livelihood security recipients increased by 144,000 (17.0%).
Among last year's National Pension subscribers, 45.0% were women, with the largest proportion being workplace subscribers at 5,929,000 (69.5%).
The scale of National Pension subscribers and the proportion of women have been steadily increasing.
The proportion of women among business subscribers rose to 41.9%, up 11.9 percentage points from 36.1% ten years ago.
