[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Galaxy Z Fold2, as the second product in the large-screen foldable series, is an evolved device in terms of screen size, materials, and features.
Samsung Electronics will begin pre-orders for the 'Galaxy Z Fold2' starting on the 11th and officially launch it on the 18th. The much-anticipated price of the Galaxy Z Fold2 is the same as its predecessor, the Galaxy Fold, at 2,398,000 KRW. It comes in two colors: Mystic Bronze and Black.
Cover screen bezel significantly reduced... only slightly longer horizontally
The main screen that appears when unfolding the Galaxy Z Fold2 is 7.6 inches, 0.4 inches larger than its predecessor. The main screen size of the Fold2 is 192.7mm, which is 34mm longer than the previous model (158.1mm). The cover screen has grown from 4.6 inches to 6.2 inches, greatly improving usability. The thick bezel that used to occupy the top of the cover screen has disappeared, making the screen 158.1mm larger.
Although the screen size has increased significantly compared to the previous model, only the horizontal length has increased while the vertical length has actually decreased. When unfolded, the Galaxy Z Fold2 measures 159.2mm vertically, 128.2mm horizontally, and has a thickness of 6.0~6.9mm. The Galaxy Fold measured 160.9mm vertically, 117.9mm horizontally, and had a thickness of 6.9mm when unfolded. The Galaxy Z Fold2 weighs 282g, which is heavier than the previous model (276g).
Upgrades in screen durability, image quality, and battery

It is more flexible and stronger than the polyimide plastic material used in the Galaxy Fold. The foldable display of the Galaxy Z Fold2 consists of a protective layer on top, the UTG display, and beneath it, the panel and two layers. The hinge, which can be fixed at any desired angle, has improved sweeper technology to prevent foreign substances from entering the screen.
The Fold2's main screen features a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display supporting a 120Hz refresh rate, showing 120 frames per second, making it clearer than its predecessor. The sound quality is enhanced with 'High Dynamic Dual Speakers,' offering the most powerful sound experience among Galaxy smart devices. The AP specs have been upgraded from Snapdragon 855 to 865+, improving graphics and processing speed. The battery capacity of the Galaxy Z Fold2 (4500mAh) is larger than that of its predecessor (4235mAh).
Rear camera and memory capacity downgraded
The camera specifications and memory capacity have been downgraded compared to the previous model. The Galaxy Z Fold2's camera system includes a 12MP ultra-wide, 12MP wide-angle, and 12MP telephoto lens. The Galaxy Fold's rear camera consisted of a 12MP telephoto, 12MP wide-angle, and 16MP ultra-wide lens. The previous model had a dual camera (10MP and 8MP) on the right side of the main screen, but the Fold2 features a single 10MP camera. With the change to a punch-hole design, the number of cameras has decreased from six to five.

The memory capacity is also halved from the Galaxy Fold's 512GB to only 256GB, and it does not support an external microSD slot. The RAM specification remains the same at 12GB. It is known that Samsung lowered the memory capacity before launch to avoid increasing the price of the foldable phone.
