Hyundai Motor Sells 312,990 Units in August... 17% Decrease Overseas Compared to Previous Year

Total 312,990 Units Last Month... Down 14.2% Year-on-Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 1st that it sold a total of 312,990 units in domestic and overseas markets last month. Compared to the same period last year, domestic sales increased by 3.2% to 54,590 units, while overseas sales decreased by 17.1% to 258,400 units.
In August, domestic sales were led by the Grandeur and Santa Fe. In the sedan market, the Grandeur (including 3,216 hybrid models) sold 10,235 units, driving overall sales performance, followed by the Avante with 5,792 units and the Sonata (including 544 hybrid models and 1,447 LF models) with 4,595 units. Last month, sedan sales totaled 21,047 units.
Recreational vehicles (RVs) recorded total sales of 15,599 units, including 6,224 Santa Fe, 4,433 Palisade, and 1,664 Tucson units.
The premium brand Genesis led sales with the G80 recording 4,100 units sold. The GV80 also sold 1,810 units, with the G90 at 704 units and the G70 at 448 units, totaling 7,062 units sold.
Commercial vehicles recorded 9,069 units for small commercial vehicles, combining Grand Starex and Porter, and 1,813 units for large commercial vehicles, combining medium and large buses and trucks.
Overseas sales decreased by 17.1% compared to the same period last year, with 258,400 units sold. The overseas market saw reduced sales due to decreased production at overseas factories caused by demand contraction amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
