According to Busan city health authorities, as of 10 a.m. on the 1st, 2 new COVID-19 cases were added, bringing the total cumulative number to 298.
Both of the 2 new confirmed cases were infected through contact with existing confirmed patients.
Patient No. 297 (Geumjeong-gu) is understood to have had contact with a confirmed case from Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Patient No. 298 (Haeundae-gu) is a contact related to the Yeonsan-dong officetel, connected to patient No. 285 (Sasang-gu), the first confirmed case at the officetel, and patient No. 288 (Geumjeong-gu) in Busan. It is not yet confirmed whether patient No. 298 visited the officetel.
Up to the previous day, 5 confirmed cases who visited the Yeonsan-dong officetel have been identified, and including contacts, the related cumulative infections have increased to 9.
Among the cumulative 298 patients, 80 are currently hospitalized. 68 are receiving treatment at Busan Medical Center, 10 at Busan National University Hospital, and 1 each at Dong-A University Hospital and Kosin University Hospital.
The largest group of hospitalized patients, 61, were infected through contact with previous patients; 10 and 2 patients are related to the Gwanghwamun rally and Sarang Jeil Church respectively. There are 6 cases with unknown infection routes, and 1 patient is an overseas entrant.
