Gangbuk-gu Announces Recruitment for Participants in the Nationwide Student English Speech Contest on the 4.19 Revolution

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) is hosting a nationwide student English speech contest themed on the April 19 Revolution and is recruiting participants.
The contest was organized to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the April 19 Revolution and to share the meaning and value of the revolution with young people.
Due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the district plans to change the contest format, originally scheduled for April, to a fully non-face-to-face event and hold it in September.
The contest is open to middle and high school students nationwide who hold South Korean nationality. Students on leave of absence or attending alternative middle or high schools are also eligible to apply.
Applicants can choose any topic related to the April 19 Revolution. The contest is divided into individual and team categories. Teams consist of two or three members. However, teams cannot be mixed between middle and high school students, and one person cannot participate in both individual and team categories simultaneously.
The application period is from September 7 to 23, and applications can be submitted through the website. Applicants must submit the application form, presentation materials, and a video of up to 6 minutes showing all participants delivering their presentations.
The district will review the videos and announce the winners on the website on September 28.
The awards for the individual category are ▲Grand Prize (1 person, 500,000 KRW) ▲Excellence Award (1 person, 300,000 KRW) ▲Merit Award (2 persons, 200,000 KRW each) ▲Encouragement Award (4 persons, 100,000 KRW each) ▲Special Award (1 person, 300,000 KRW). For the team category, the awards are ▲Grand Prize (1 team, 1,000,000 KRW) ▲Excellence Award (1 team, 500,000 KRW) ▲Merit Award (2 teams, 300,000 KRW each) ▲Encouragement Award (4 teams, 200,000 KRW each) ▲Special Award (1 team, 500,000 KRW).
