COVID-19 Cases Across All Areas of Jeonnam... First COVID-19 Case Confirmed in Jangseong-gun
Elderly Care Facility Resident A (Female, 90) in Bukham-myeon Confirmed Positive for COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] As COVID-19 spreads throughout Jeonnam, the first confirmed case has been reported in Jangseong, Jeonnam.
On the 29th at 6:30 PM, Jangseong-gun announced that resident A (female, 90 years old) of a nursing facility located in Bukha-myeon was finally confirmed as a COVID-19 positive case.
A received treatment related to a chronic illness at a hospital in Gwangju Metropolitan City from July 20 to August 24. During this period, her daughter, who lives in Seoul, visited the hospital once on August 23.
A was discharged on the 24th and readmitted to the nursing facility in Bukha-myeon. The facility implements a quarantine period when admitting individuals coming from outside, so a single room was assigned to A.
On the morning of the 28th, A’s daughter (Gangseo-gu case number 204) was confirmed positive, and at 8 PM the same day, epidemiologists from Gangseo-gu informed that A had close contact with case number 204.
A underwent two COVID-19 tests and was finally confirmed positive on the 29th.
The county conducted disinfection of the facility and tested 70 residents and workers for COVID-19; 68 tested negative, and the remaining 2 are still being tested.
Additionally, A was hospitalized in a negative pressure ward at Chonnam National University Hospital. CCTV footage related to the confirmed cases was secured, and the facility was placed under cohort isolation.
