"Meeting of Musical and Augmented Reality" LGU+ Presents 'Kinky Boots'
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] LG Uplus announced on the 30th that it will provide augmented reality (AR) content of the musical "Kinky Boots" through the U+AR app.
The newly introduced AR content consists of a total of 12 types, including key musical songs from Kinky Boots, dance challenges, and photo time with the actors. The most eye-catching content is two types of "AR music box videos" that vividly recreate the highlight scenes of the musical. Viewers can realistically watch Lee Seok-hoon (playing Charlie), Kang Hong-seok (playing Lola) performing the representative song "Raise You Up," and Choi Jae-rim (playing Lola) performing "Land of Lola."
Kang Hong-seok, who plays Lola in Kinky Boots and participated in the production of this AR content, said, "It's amazing to be able to experience Kinky Boots anytime and anywhere through AR," adding, "Through this new stage, I want to bring joy to many audiences beyond the theater during these difficult times."
This AR service also offers online and offline experiential content linked with the performance venue and the U+AR app. Customers can scan the actors' posters on the pillars at the theater and QR codes in the program book with their smartphone cameras to access new content. In particular, when scanning actor Park Eun-tae's profile photo with the U+AR app, hidden content may appear.
Choi Yoon-ho, Executive Director of AR/VR Services at LG Uplus, said, "The large-scale musical Kinky Boots, which has received industry acclaim, has met the competitive platform U+AR to create mutual synergy," adding, "We will continue to focus on diversifying 5G content through collaborations with meaningful works, and we hope these activities will also contribute to revitalizing the cultural and arts sector."
