Yeongdeungpo-gu Becomes a Child-Friendly City... Three Public Childcare Centers Open
September 1 Opening of 2 Sites in Dangsan 2-dong and 1 Site in Daerim 3-dong... Expanded to a Total of 77 Public Facilities... 17 Sites Added During the 7th Elected Administration
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chaehyunil) will open three public daycare centers on September 1 to strengthen the public nature of childcare and create a pleasant childcare environment, making Yeongdeungpo a great place to raise children.
The district has been promoting various public daycare center expansion projects every year, including new construction, conversion of private facilities to public, and long-term lease of management buildings, striving to create a childcare environment where parents, teachers, and children can all feel safe and learn by providing daycare centers equipped with safe and pleasant childcare facilities.
In addition, to reduce the childcare burden caused by the lack of childcare facilities, daycare centers will be evenly distributed to achieve regional balance, and plans are in place to further accelerate the establishment of diverse educational infrastructure and qualitative improvements through public-private cooperation.
The daycare centers opening on September 1 are ▲ Eunsol Daycare Center (Dangsan 2-dong) ▲ Central I-Park Byeolha Daycare Center (Dangsan 2-dong) ▲ Yeongdeungpo Dundeun Daycare Center (Daerim 3-dong), totaling three locations.
The number of public daycare centers in the area, which was 72 until last year, will total 77 including the two centers opened in the first half of this year and the three centers opening in September.
Furthermore, the district announced that one more public daycare center will open in the second half of this year. It added that by June 2022, when the 7th elected term ends, the ratio of public daycare centers to all daycare centers will be expanded to 40%, focusing on creating a seamless childcare environment.
Eunsol Daycare Center in Dangsan 2-dong, with a capacity of 150, secured its site through a donation. The total floor area reaches 2,719㎡, and it is a building with two basement floors and five above-ground floors, making it the largest facility among daycare centers in Yeongdeungpo-gu. Floors 1 through 4 are designed as age-specific childcare rooms and teacher rooms, and a mini library will be established on the 4th floor. The 5th floor is arranged to allow various experiential activities using an auditorium and rooftop landscaping.
Central I-Park Byeolha Daycare Center in Dangsan 2-dong is located within the Dangsan Central I-Park apartment complex, with a total floor area of 295.56㎡ and a single above-ground floor. It has a capacity of 30 children.
Yeongdeungpo Dundeun Daycare Center, located in Daerim 3-dong, has a total floor area of 489.88㎡, with one basement floor and four above-ground floors, each floor consisting of childcare rooms and teacher rooms. It can accommodate 65 children.
